Stop killing of Muslims in Burma....!!!

Burma has a population 75 million with the Muslim population being just 0.7 million. The Burmese Muslims have been under this affliction after 1962 when the Army usurped the power in Burma. It all started on 3rd June 2012 when 11 innocent Muslims were killed by the Burmese Army and the Buddhist mobs after bringing them down from a bus. A vehement protest was carried out in the Muslim majority province of Arakan, but the Protestants fell victims to the tyranny of the mobs and the army.

 Trying to elude capture and an imminent killing; Burmese Muslims thronged to the Bangladeshi border, but all they met was dismay. The Government of Bangladesh refused to offer them asylum.

 Over 500 Muslim villages have been incinerated hither-to. Thousands have been exterminated. The persecution of the Burmese Muslims at the hands of the Buddhist mobs is at its full swing. Yet all the human rights organizations have maintained a criminal silence up till now. Has the Muslim world become so callous that they remain undeterred by such genocide?

 This is not a new thing or an unprecedented massacre. Muslims have been a subject to such hostility even before. If we go through theannals of history we come to the very tenable conclusion that Muslims were always on the suffering side. Islam is a religion of peace andharmony. It doesn’t allow its followers to lay-waste any other tenet. This leaves behind a big question mark. Why are the followersof such a peaceful religion being oppressed from time to time?

 The fear stricken faces of the poor Burmese Muslims really cuts one apart. The glimpse of their bruised bodies is a heart rendingspectacle. Where is the UN now? Why isn’t the International media highlighting this issue? Why are the competitive authorities of theMuslim world procrastinating?

 Stop killing the Burmese Muslims. JI did a meritorious job by staging rallies against this brutality. The government of Pakistan shouldraise a voice in favor of the poor Burmese Muslims at the international forum. The whole Muslim world should join hands to getthe poor Burmese out of their distress and misery.

In lieu of launching into a tirade against the killings, something should be done on the ground. If we don’t help out our brothers there then we are equally responsible for their bloodshed. We won’t be able to satisfy our conscience, and the abrasive cries of the Burmese Muslims will keep on pinching us throughout our lives.

Heroic Spaniards....

Spain's Euro 2012 triumph delivered an historic third successive major title for La Roja and has everybody in football debating whether they can now be deemed the greatest international team of all time.

The bare numbers suggest they can. No team has ever won three significant tournaments in the row, and Spain's near total dominance since Euro 2008—a period in which they've not conceded a single goal in knockout matches—is unprecedented.

But any discerning football fan will tell you statistics and records are open to vast interpretation. How, for example, can we be sure this Spain team are not benefiting from an era in which international standards have dropped?

The answer is we can't. And neither can we factor in the changes in the game over the decades to draw a fair comparison between Spain and all the great teams to have come before them. But what we can say is Spain 2008-2012 have at the very least put themselves in the discussion of the greatest national side ever assembled.

Franz Beckenbauer's West Germany of the 1970s also belong in the conversation—having won the 1972 European Championships and 1974 World Cup. They too had a chance to make it three in a row but were denied by Czechoslovakia in 1976.

And then there's the France team that won back-to-back titles at the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000, inspired by Zinedine Zidane. Don't forget they too summoned a dominant final performance to beat Brazil 3-0.

But the team most people turn to in this debate is Brazil's iconic 1970 World Cup winners. It was they who not only triumphed, but also did so with a flair and exuberance that has become the holy grail of how football should be played since.

With that in mind, I thought I'd compare their starting lineups for major finals—Brazil's in 1970 and Spain's at Euro 2012—and try to compare the players in each position.

It won't answer the question, but it should at least further the debate in terms of which team was better.

For the longest time, incandescent bulbs, which replaced lanterns, reigned as the solution for lighting the world over. Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) that consume less power to get as much lighting are slowly and steadily gaining acceptance in the market.

As a result incandescent bulbs will soon be shelved for good. However, even as CFLs are gaining momentum, they already have an emerging threat in the form of an even lesser power consuming and higher-efficiency technology—light-emitting diodes (LEDs)

Enlightening factsLEDs consume less power and have higher energy efficiency than CFLs or incandescent light sources and have an extremely long lifetime, which means the product produces more or less no ‘waste’ in the form of spent light bulbs. LEDs do not contain any mercury. They can actually cut down that electricity bill manifold, even in comparison to compact fluorescent lamps (CFL).

The best thing about LEDs is that even though they are really small in size, the light emitted is really bright. This fact itself opens up a vast canvas for innovation in making products. The trick is to house LEDs in a variety of fixtures.

Further variations of LEDs include organic light-emitting diodes (OLED), polymer light-emitting diodes (PLED), light-emitting polymers (LEP), flexible OLED (FOLED), and phosphorescent OLED (PHOLED). These variants have been put to innovative use in apparel displays, etc.

According to a report by the International Energy Agency, the adoption of more energy-efficient lighting systems could prevent a cumulative total of 16 billion tons of carbon from being added to the world’s atmosphere over the next 25 years. Despite advances in lighting technology, between 67% and 75% of the world’s lights utilize older, less energy-efficient technology.

We find that in the Qur’aan Allah,, the Glorious, says,
{And He it is Who has created man from water; then He has made for him blood relationship and marriage relationship. And thy Lord is ever Powerful.} [Qur'aan 25:54]
{One of His signs is this: that He has created mates for you from yourselves that you might find tranquility in them, and He has put between you love and compassion. Surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect.} [Qur'aan 30:21]
Allah, the Most High, also mentions how marriage was also practised by many of the Prophets who came before the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him),
{And surely We sent Messengers before thee and appointed for them wives and children.} [Qur'aan 33:38]
And in praising the habits of good believers, it reads,
{And those who say, “Our Lord, grant us in our wives and our offspring the joy of our eyes . . .”} [Qur'aan 25:74]

Somalia is dying... U dunno who to blame...!!!

Somalia is one of the poorest countries in the world, devastated by over twenty years of conflict. Concern has been working in Somalia since 1986 responding to emergencies caused by conflict, drought and flooding. We also carry out longer-term development work which focuses on improving water facilities, nutrition, primary education, agriculture and ways to help people earn a living.


The UN in Somalia says tens of thousands of people will have died of starvation by the time the famine in the Horn of Africa ends.


The food crisis was declared in Somalia six months ago and levels of need are expected to remain high until July or August.
UN aid chief in Somalia, Mark Bowden, told the BBC malnutrition rates there were the highest in the world.
He said a quarter of a million Somalis were still suffering from the famine.
"We know that tens of thousands of people will have died over the last year," Mr Bowden, said, describing the rates of malnutrition as "amazingly high".


"Children will have suffered the most, malnutrition rates in Somalia were the highest in the world, and I think the highest recorded... up to 50% of the child population suffered from severe or acute malnutrition."
